MEET RON
Proven Fighter. Trusted Leader.
Ron Schutz is a lifelong Minnesotan, husband, father, veteran, and one of America’s top trial lawyers. He’s running for Attorney General because Minnesota deserves a leader who will combat crime, fight fraud, stand up for justice, protect families, and defend the rule of law.

A RECORD OF EXCELLENCE IN THE LAW
Over the course of his career, Ron has built a national reputation as a courtroom leader. He is a partner in a national litigation firm and served as the firm’s chairman from 2019 to 2024.
- Named to Forbes’ list of America’s Top 200 Lawyers (2024 and 2025)
- Recognized by Minnesota Super Lawyers for over 20 years—frequently among the Top Ten in the state
- Honored as a “Lawdragon Legend” and repeatedly listed among the 500 Leading Lawyers in America
- Won an $89 million trial victory that earned him recognition as one of the Top 10 Winning Litigators in the United States by The National Law Journal
- He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the premier professional organization of trial lawyers in North America. Membership is by invitation only and limited to the top 1% of lawyers nationwide.
SERVICE TO COUNTRY AND COMMUNITY
Ron’s commitment to service began early. He earned his Mechanical Engineering degree, magna cum laude, from Marquette University on an Army ROTC Scholarship, and went on to graduate with honors from the University of Minnesota Law School.
Following law school, Ron served four years in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Commissioned as a Captain, he was stationed with the 7th Infantry Division, where he spent most of his military career in the courtroom — first as a defense lawyer, then as a prosecutor.
Beyond the courtroom, Ron is active in civic and community life. He is a former Chair and current board member of the Center of the American Experiment, serves on the Board of Directors of Tee It Up for the Troops, and is a member of the University of St. Thomas Law School Board of Advisors. He previously served on the Advisory Board of the Minnesota Law Review and is a past president of the University of Minnesota Law School Alumni Association.

REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP
Ron has long been active in advancing conservative principles. He has served on countless finance committees, been a delegate to the Republican National Convention, and chaired the Minnesota Commission on Judicial Selection at the appointment of Governor Tim Pawlenty. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Pawlenty for President.
FAMILY IN MINNESOTA
Ron is married to his high school sweetheart, Janet. Together they raised three children here in Minnesota. A man of faith, family, and perseverance, Ron is an avid outdoorsman, endurance athlete, and adventurer. He has run several marathons and triathlons, has trekked to Everest Base Camp, Machu Picchu, and Mount Cotopaxi’s Refugio. He has also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and The Gran Paradiso in the Italian Alps — and once even completed a solo skydiving jump “in a moment of temporary insanity”.

READY TO SERVE AS MINNESOTA ATTORNEY GENERAL
Ron Schutz’s life has been defined by discipline, integrity, and results—qualities he’ll bring to the office of Attorney General. He knows the courtroom, he knows the law, and he knows Minnesota.
